A letter from the Chairman Hello Tecumseh District,

My name is Judy Sanders and I am the new Advancement Chairman of Tecumseh. I want to try and keep an open line of communication between myself, council and all the Packs, Troops, & Crews. I will be sending a letter out bi-monthly to try and keep you all inform concerning advancement. First and foremost it is a privilege to serve this district as Advancement Chair.

I have been involved in scouting for 12 years since Tommy joined scouting. I have been a Tiger Leader, Den Leader, Webelos Leader, Pack Chairman, Cubmaster, Pack Trainer, and Troop Chairman/Advancement at the unit level. I have served as Camp Administrator, Camp Director, Membership Chairman, Training Chairman, Activities Member at the District Level and I have served for 4 years on Wood Badge Staff, as Troop Guide, Assistant Scoutmaster Troop Guides and now as Scribe. I have made life long friends and learn many things, but the most important title I have is that I am the MOTHER of TWO EAGLE SCOUTS, Tommy and Frank.

I attended the Council Coordinated Meeting on Tuesday in Canal Winchester and saw some wonderful friends there. When we went into the break out sessions I met the members of the Council Advancement Committee chaired by an old friend Roy Case(not old just been my friend for a while).

I am going over the information that he gave me concerning our advancement for cub scouting and boy scouting and I will have a report to give at the next District Meeting on April 17th. Roy also talked about the Eagle Dinner and how few people have registered for this. We need to push this to all our Eagle Scouts from last year. The two dinners that we attended were fantastic and well worth the price for all 4 of us to go to. This years dinner will be at THE Woody Hayes Athletic Center and Coach Jim Tressel will be the guest speaker.

I received an email from Sgt. Mark Hoppes of the chief Logan District with a copy of the letter that they send out for Letters of Recommendation. According to Roy if there is any question about the Eagle Candidate then you have the letters there and you don't have to make phone calls during the Eagle BOR. I'm going to re-work this letter and have it at the next District Meeting so that all the Eagle BOR will have letters of recommendations.

Another issue brought up was the Merit Badge List - the list that Roy has from us is the old 2004 list. I know Doc has been putting together one for us(Thanks Doc) and it is on the web site. Marilyn at the Scout Office gave me a copy of a list that she has been adding on to and it is more pages than the one Doc has. What I want to do is to take the list and compare them, if you have anyone that you use as a MB Counselor that is not on the Web site contact me and we will see what can be done. They must fill out a new application (copy an old one if you have to) and put the Position 42 code on it and either mail it to the scout office or myself as soon as possible, also fill out the MB Counselor Page #34405. It is the guideline not policy that they be Youth Protected Train (all leaders have to be, MB counselors need to be).

All Eagle Scouts need to use the new Eagle Application after May 1st, before May 1st and if they use the old form all they need to do is to attach a note on the application with the Eagle Project Title and total number of hours spent on the project. I'm suggesting that we use the new forms now.

Please remember Troop Advancement People we need merit badge verification forms when you send through advancement reports.

I am looking for members of Packs and Troops that interested in being members of the Advancement Committee.

Please utilize the Camp OYO and Tecumseh Web Site for forms and information, my fox brother Phil keeps tabs on anything and everything on that web site and sometimes some really good photos of people looking really good(silly).

Thanks for everything you do for your boys, your unit and the Tecumseh District. Remember if you need anything, anything at all let me know.

KEEP ADVANCING!!!
