This page will be continually updated as more information is obtained.

The highly anticipated 2010 National Scout Jamboree will be held July 23rd through August 4th at Fort A.P.Hill, Virginia. Planning will begin in October and we will have local information sometime in 2008. Start saving your money NOW so that when applications become available, you can place most of or all of the registration fee with your application. Not everyone who wants to go will be able to. Those who are prepared and are willing to plan in advance, will get this "once in a lifetime" opportunity. If you are a Webelos this (2007-2008) year, you will be elgible to attend. Physical fitness, training, rank and good standing in your home troop wil be important factors for being chosen. This page will keep you informed and help you prepare. Here's what to expect:

WHAT IS A JAMBOREE? "The Language of Scouting" defines a jamboree as a term chosen by Baden-Powell to describe the first international gathering of Scouts camping together in London in 1920. The term is restricted to indicate a national or world jamboree. The BSA has a national jamboree every four years. The 2005 national jamboree ("jambo" for short, is a Swahili greeting, meaning "hello" or "greetings") is a 10 day event in which BSA transforms approximately 3,000 acres of land on a U.S. Army base in Virginia to support a city of more than 40,000 Scouts and leaders. We have our own bus and telephone system, post offices, first-aid stations and hospital, police and fire departments, radio stations, daily newspaper, food distribution, sanitation and trading posts. During jambo, a wide variety of activities will be offered to satisfy almost any Scouting interest.
