These pages have some of our experiences. Be sure to check out all pages as they are added! PAGE THREE FIRST SHAKEDOWN. Even though the weatherman (correctly) predicted lousy weather,
we toughed it out. Saturday April 23rd at Scioto Trail State Park.
After a flag ceremony to get things started, the four troops worked their way through mud
and rising water to four stations. We learned about properly setting up Army cots
handling the canvas, BSA wall tents and dining flys,
Patrol Boxes and cooking gear. We learned what we can and cannot take
and how to be prepared for what will occur at the jamboree. July in Virginia
is as hot and muggy or worse than home, and when it rains off the Chespeake,
you'll think it is almost winter!! We also learned more about the proper uniform and class "B",
and what gear we should plan on bringing. It's all about being comfortable, jamboree-style!
